WALT: learn more about these endangered creatures living... under the sea!
snappers are salt water fish. They are yummy to eat in many ways like raw, fried and cooked, especially beer battered. Yummy! But not really Anyway hope you enjoy my amazing and interacting report!
HABITAT
The most common place where you would find a snapper is the North Island of New Zealand. There are some in Matai Bay and Goat island to swim free wherever they want because they are protected. Some other species of snapper are also found in different countries for example Mexico.
POPULATION
The snappers are decreasing from the level of people catching them. There are now a limit on how much fish, including snapper you are allowed to catch for your whanau. The limit for snapper to catch for your whanau is nine or seven. And it has to be exactly 30 cm or more If there smaller then they might still be babies.
BREEDING
Red snapper can lay over 75 million eggs in each breeding season which is from june the 11th to july the 12th And a small red snapper can lay over 7 million eggs in there breeding season which is the same as the normal red snapper
PREDATORS
Snapper are hunted by sharks, predatory fish such as barracuda, mackerel, king fish, grouper, and of course humans. Humans are the worst predators for snapper. They usually get caught by humans mainly. Some humans get way way too much snappers which leaves a little bit for the next person who wants to have the right amount of snapper for their whanau but instead they get about one or two. DIET
Snappers usually eat sea worms sea eggs squid , shrimp, octopus invertebrates and even land animals!
IN CONCLUSION
In conclusion i think snappers are an amazing and pretty unique kind of fish. Thank you for reading my awesome and amazing report!
